Enrolments and Tours
STARTING SCHOOL
AT SPENSLEY STREET
CAN MY CHILD ATTEND SPENSLEY STREET?
We enrol approximately 50 Prep students each year. Children who live in the immediate vicinity (1km from the school) are guaranteed entry, as are siblings of students already enrolled at the school. There are usually places for students outside these groups. However, it is difficult to predict these numbers.

If you look at the findmyschool (findmyschool.vic.gov.au) link below, you can see the zone for Spensley Street Primary School.
PREP TOURS
Enrolments for Prep students to begin school in 2020 are now closed.
Confirmation of enrolment will take place in mid July and offers of Prep places will be finalised during Term 3.

Families wishing to enquire about enrolments for the following year are encouraged to check the website in March 2020 for updates on Tour times and Open Day.

PREP TRANSITION
Our Prep Transition program will be held on 21, 22, 25 and 26 November. On these days, next year's Prep children are invited to attend for four days from 9.30-10.30am.
Parents and carers learn about school programs and children are involved in learning experiences - story readings, songs, simple games and craft activities - in each one of our four Areas.

A family information session will also be held in November. Childcare will be offered at the school.

Preps will begin school on Friday 31 January 2020.
For the first six weeks of Term 1, Preps do not come to school on Wednesdays.

FAMILY INFORMATION BOOK
Information about the school and its programs, including details about starting school, is available in the Family Information Book. This is given to parents and carers at the Prep Transition Program and is also available to download. Here is all the latest information for being at school in 2019.
KIDSMATTER RESOURCES FOR STARTING SCHOOL
KidsMatter is an Australian mental health and well-being initiative set in primary schools and early childhood education and care services (like preschools, kindergartens and day care centres). It’s a framework that helps these places take care of children's mental health needs by:
creating positive school and early childhood communities
teaching children skills for good social and emotional development
working together with families
recognising and getting help for children with mental health problems.
